Bullion is, after all, a store of value or wealth same as money in the bank :111: so really there's nothing wrong in selling his bullion but I'm sure he should be asking for a little more

If there is anything on earth that is the opposite of "a store of wealth", it would be a boat.

It's a 25 yr old boat and with the extra is still only 3k total 16' 115hp suzuki new floor and carpet. I can't take my 16 yr old nephew fishing on a silver round either. He won't be this age for long and a boat should be a great way to bond.

This is my current boat, I use it mostly for fishing in the Gulf. It's rare that I get more than 25 miles out. As I get older, it has to be a pretty nice day. Thank God fuel prices came down, filling 100 gal tanks sucks at over $4.00.

Rick I bought some 90% this week, or I'd scoop up some of those silver rounds.

Called one of the local dealers to see what they would offer you. Only $9.75 per oz. :no_ma:

fix it your self , it only fiber glass , and some wood in there acouple buckets and a grinder and maybe some flat steel in place of the wood , if the wood in there is not bad , just grind out the cracks in the boat , and lay some fiber glass then you can also with fiat steel go over the transon with the steel , it well make it a lot stronger , the just put your motor back on , i works in fiber glass for year , i would just fix the cracks then lay the steel over it bolt the steel down , motor go back on , it well last for years

So are you asking $1250.00 for all 150 oz?
Please clarify.

Do we need to tack shipping on there too? (MN)

I'm looking at some rounds locally for $13/oz. This may be a better deal depending on whether shipping is included or not.

that was 12:50 per oz originally 100oz now 150 oz or $1875 was hoping to do a local deal (Teaxas San Antonio. Austin, Dallas or Houston) for cash I am considering by mail but would be send me check or postal money order will send when clears shipping my cost USPS registered and insured. Prefer someone who has been on the board since sep 2008 or about a year. Willing to go to $12 per oz to do the deal.

I had a Trophy that I cruised all over the San Juan's with for years - great boat. I had a 150 Froce on mine - yeah supposedly crappy motor - but it lasted many years. I bet that 225 on yours really pushes that boat along.

Since this boat mostly lives in the Gulf, top speed is not nearly as important as reliability. One way to really ruin the day is to lose the motor out of sight of land. I could have gotten by with a 150 and sometimes wish I did for the fuel economy. When sea conditions permit, I go from one place to another at a 3400 RPM cruise, which gets me averaging 25 kts with a burn of about 7.5 gal /hour. That works out to 3.8 mpg, not bad for a boat. When you open it up, the fuel burn goes to about 25-30 gal/hour and speed to maybe 45 kt. Mileage now 1.9 mpg, not so good.

Plus in the Gulf, running that fast will beat you and the boat to death. I had a steering wheel shear off in my hands once. I made it back with a pair of vice grips on the shaft.

But. the Yamaha is very reliable and I like that!

I'm not a boat guy, but isn't it better to have 2 smaller motors rather than 1 large one? Just in case you loose one while you're out?

If you lose one while you're out, what does it matter? You were probably with it and won't be using the other.

Re: Hate to do it

I was assuming you could get back in on 1 motor, if you lost the other

TomD 10-29-2008 11:54 AM

Re: Hate to do it

Running 2 motors does increase reliability but not as much as twice. The reason for that is a large number of stranded fishing boats happen because of fuel problems: water in the fuel, dirt, clogged pickups in the tank, clogged filters, no fuel, bad fuel lines, etc, etc. With problems like these, you then have 2 non-functional motors.

Then 2 motors adds weight and drag plus doubles the probability of motor trouble.

Here's a shot looking astern from my previous boat. I still have those motors, anyone want to buy one.

Thanks Tom, I just thought it may be better to have 2 motors instead of 1, just in case of some malfunction

Nice shot by the way...where is it?

Two motors are better than one but, just like anything, there are tradeoffs.

The shot was offshore from Pensacola, Florida, where I now live.
